Dynapac paves way to success

Jeddah-based contractor has been using Dynapac equipment to carry out crucial roadworks in Saudi Arabia’s Western for 16 years - and plans for more.

LEADING Jeddah-based contractor Manarat Al Mutakamila has been using Dynapac equipment to carry out crucial roadworks in Saudi Arabia’s Western region for over 16 years, since its inception in 2002.

Its fleet currently comprises 12 Dynapac machines, most of which are compaction equipment. These machines include steel drum rollers, pneumatic rollers and soil compactors and well as a paver which the company acquired in 2018. Manarat Al Mutakamila has purchased most of its machines from Middle East Development Company (Medco), the official agent of Dynapac in the Saudi market, although some have been sourced from the open market as well.

A civil contracting firm, Manarat Al Mutakamila’s scope of works includes general and road contracting works and maintenance, as well as construction of buildings and sewerage works. Speaking to Gulf Construction, Bijad bin Abdullah AlGharmol, owner and general manager of Manarat Al Mutakamila, says Dynapac machines are user-friendly and good performers, “especially the compactors which we have been using for many years”. Manarat Al Mutakamila is currently using its Dynapac rollers and pavers on a road maintenance project in North Jeddah, as well as Al Sharq project, which involves asphalting of roads in East Jeddah. Apart from Jeddah, its fleet of 12 Dynapac machines have been used on several other projects elsewhere such as a road project linking villages in Makkah for the Ministry of Transportation and levelling and demarcation of plots in Khurais.

AlGharmol says fleet expansion is always on the cards, however he adds that this depends on the number of projects secured by his company. AlGharmol is looking to continue its long-standing relationship with Dynapac and says he is particularly pleased with the support extended by Medco’s Dynapac team in Jeddah.

Dynapac, a world leader for mobile compactors for road surfaces, manufactures rollers for asphalt and soil applications, pavers and planers. Previously part of Atlas Copco’s road construction equipment division, Dynapac was acquired by Fayat Group in 2017.
