Swietelsky Baugesellschaft mbH, a long-time valued Dynapac customer, recently accepted a challenging paving project: the maintenance of a mountain road that leads through the Klausbachtal region in southern Germany.

Long transport distance, narrow street, hairpin turns

The Hirschbichl road, a 3.4 kilometer long, single-lane road with a grade of up to 26 percent, leads through the Berchtesgaden national park in the south of Germany. Some of the challenges that had to be taken into consideration were constricted working spaces and long transport distances. For this reason, Swietelsky Baugesellschaft GmbH wisely decided to use the Dynapac SD2500CS paver in combination with the Dynapac MF2500CS mobile feeder.

The job consisted of variable paving widths, averaging from 3.5 to 3.7 meters, where the biggest width was an impressive 8.5 meters. The compact dimensions of the Dynapac SD2500CS paver, along with its great laying capacity were beneficial parameters needed to get the job done. The paver’s compactness also helped manage the road’s steep grades and hairpin turns brilliantly. The choice of the Dynapac MF2500CS mobile feeder was the ultimate choice of feeder since the project required long transport distances. Thanks to the paver’s 21-ton capacity hopper bin, the paving team experienced maximum operational up-time and never ran short of material. Another big advantage of the Dynapac paver/feeder combination was that there was no material spillage while paving downhill, thus saving both time and money. The paver and feeder combination also ensured a smooth paving process with great paving results.

Thanks to Swietelsky Baugesellschaft GmbH’s excellent choice of Dynapac’s paver and feeder, in combination with an experienced paving team, the challenging maintenance job only took two days to complete. The results, just like the view, are extraordinary.
