Ridderkerk/Amstelveen, Netherlands – In a groundbreaking milestone for sustainable road construction, the all-electric SD25 80C e, the first paver of the highway class to be fully electrified, has successfully completed its first on site operation on the A9 near Amstelveen and in the city of Ridderkerk for Heijmans. 

The innovative paver, developed in close partnership with our dealer for the Netherlands Van Der Spek Vianen and the Dutch construction companies Mourik, van Gelder and Heijmans, was met with enthusiasm on-site – both for its flawless performance and seamless integration into existing workflows. Drawing on a shared platform with the conventional SD25/XD25 models, the SD25 80C e was able to begin operations without any adaptation issues, delivering a strong first impression during this critical real-world test. 

Over the course of the initial deployment, the machine laid 550 tonnes of asphalt both within urban areas and on the motorway, showcasing its versatility and performance across a range of applications. 

The SD25 80C e is part of the second generation of electrified construction equipment, featuring five electric drives, a powerful 294 kWh battery, and a working time of up to  
8 hours on a single charge.  

With energy efficiency exceeding 60%, it delivers not only performance but also clear environmental benefits. Naturally, its operation is entirely CO₂-free, aligning with broader climate goals and emissions reduction targets in the sector. In addition to that, the electric machine operates on more than 20% lower noise levels, protecting the workers on site from loud operating environments. 

A particular highlight of the project was the use of low-temperature asphalt, further reducing the environmental impact and underlining the forward-thinking approach taken by Heijmans and its partners.
