Press release, Paving

Dynapac has been awarded first place in the prestigious sponsorship award presented by the VDBUM. In the category “Developments from Industry,” the fully electric SD25 80C e road paver impressed with its innovative technology and forward-looking design.

The award was accepted on behalf of the company by responsible Product Manager Marten Buse. “This distinction confirms our commitment to developing high-performance yet sustainable solutions for road construction,” said Buse.

The jury of the annual award evaluates submitted entries based on four criteria: sustainability, cost-effectiveness, technical and scientific excellence, and practical relevance and future viability.

What sets the electric large paver apart? At the heart of the machine is its second-generation electrification system, achieving an overall efficiency of over 65 percent. Five electrically controlled drives ensure precise, efficient, and demand-oriented power transmission. Independent field tests have demonstrated paving capacities of up to 900 tons per battery charge. Depending on operating conditions, the battery system enables eight to ten hours of operation. “This is sufficient for a typical working day without intermediate charging and is in no way inferior to comparable diesel machines,” Buse added when asked.

Against the backdrop of increasing CO₂ pricing in public tenders, the SD25 80C e offers a clear economic advantage. In addition to reducing direct emissions, construction companies benefit from lower operating and energy costs as well as improved environmental metrics in bid calculations.

The technological foundation is Dynapac’s latest SD and XD paver generation. It is consistently designed for modularity and future viability, enabling the integration of additional digital and sustainable technologies.

The electric large paver is already being successfully deployed in real-world applications, including in the Netherlands and Sweden, proving that electric drive technology in road construction is no longer a vision of the future but a lived reality.

With the SD25 80C e, Dynapac is setting a clear example for the future of road paving and underlining its role as an innovation leader in the industry.
