Compaction Redefined
With a Seismic Asphalt machine you benefit from increased productivity, energy- and cost efficiency as well as operator comfort and simplicity. The Patented Seismic innovation by Dynapac is unique and is the only system on the market that is completely automatic with no need for additional operator training.

Excellent Operator Comfort
The machine operates at a lower noise level and transmits fewer vibrations to the cab, thanks to reduced frequency levels. This results in a more pleasant experience for the operator, allowing you to enjoy your workday in a quieter, smoother, and more comfortable cab.
Select and go
Starting a machine with Seismic is incredibly simple, as Seismic is automatically activated by default. Just pick high or low amplitude. That’s it. You’re ready to roll.

Thanks to lower frequency vibrations, the improvement is evident both inside the cab and in the area around the machine. You get a calmer, more comfortable workspace that enhances both focus and overall operator wellbeing.
Seismic Asphalt automatically adjusts the vibration
How the System Works
The system provides real-time monitoring and continuously adjusts the frequency automatically based on the material. No additional training is required and no risk of getting the compaction settings wrong. By working in harmony with the material being compacted, it significantly reduces issues like bouncing and aggregate crushing. This fully automatic compaction process eliminates operator guesswork, ensuring optimal performance for any material or layer thickness.
Reduces Wear and Tear
Thanks to Seismic and the optimized frequency adjustments, the vibration powertrain and drum shells are exposed to less stress and wear compared to conventional compaction. This, in turn, means a longer life of the vibration mechanism and related hydraulics. On top of this, Dynapac´s already durable and thick drum shells will last even longer, maximizing the drums lifetime.

EcoMode
With the EcoMode setting enabled, the machine operates at the lowest possible RPM without compromising compaction quality. The machine automatically idles after 10 seconds in neutral, significantly reducing engine RPM. This feature does not interfere with the general workflow or operation of the machine and ensures instant start-up after idle mode.
Temperature Meter
Dual asphalt temperature sensors mounted within outermost crossbeams of both drums allowing the operator to continuously monitor surface temperature. Keeping track of the asphalt’s temperature is critical to asphalt compaction, consequently Seismic Asphalt utilizes the temperature readings to adjust both drum’s frequency – the only system in the industry, which constantly uses the temperature to adjust.

Compaction Meter
The Dynapac Compaction Meter provides real time stiffness measurements to ensure optimal compaction. The compaction meter can present two different values for the operator, EVIB1 and EVIB2. The optional system is standard with Seismic Asphalt. The same sensors for the compaction meter are used to calculate the frequency adjustment of the Seismic Asphalt system.
FAQ
Seismic Asphalt is the innovation that lets the roller determine the optimum frequency for any compacted material relative to the asphalt mix temperature. Seismic Asphalt constantly monitors the stiffness and temperature variations, and automatically adjusts the vibration frequency to the changing conditions.

In addition to the decals on the side of the machine and front/rear of the cab/ROPS, it will be shown in the machine’s display. Seismic is set as default but can be turned off via the menus on the touch screen. The Dynapac Compaction Meter with EVIB (DCM EVIB) is standard so the accelerometer in the drum is mounted along with the eccentric position sensor. Seismic also uses the surface temperature of the asphalt mix to determine the optimum frequency setting. The machines are fitted with two IR temperature sensors, one in the front and one in the back, to always measure the temperature ahead of the machine in the current driving direction.
No, we offer Seismic only as a factory installed option.
Seismic Asphalt is a Dynapac Patent since 2025.
Up to 25% in combination with EcoMode.
Yes, it certainly is. Initial tests made at the Dynapac research facility proved the technology has been followed by field tests. The latter further reinforced the performance while also showing the claimed savings.
No, we are using the same proven mechanical components we have used for several years. The Seismic system is algorithm based adding no extra complexity or service need to the roller.
Conventional vibratory compactors deliver a rapid succession of impacts to the soil surface at a frequency that is either pre-set at high or low amplitude or at a frequency that is adjusted manually. Normally around 45–67 Hz (2700–4000 vpm). Seismic Asphalt does it differently. Since the drum and the asphalt act as one dynamic system, several benefits can be found from this system’s natural frequency. At the natural frequency, the drum amplitude is enhanced significantly, since energy is automatically fed to the drum and asphalt system at exactly the right time. This, in turn, maximises the contact force between the drum and the ground, yielding maximised compaction and energy efficiency. Now we are in the range of 45 Hz (2700 vpm) and up depending on type and stiffness achieved. Seismic Asphalt starts compaction on hot/warm mix at frequencies slightly above the natural for a gentle initial approach when the asphalt is easily compacted. As the mix cools, it becomes successively more difficult to compact. To account for this, the system adjusts the frequency closer to the natural frequency, thereby increasing the resulting amplitude and compaction efficiency.
It is very difficult to manually set the optimum vibration frequency. It is different from material to material and also depends on the layer thickness. In addition, the natural frequency also changes with increasing density and stiffness in the material. Because of these factors, it's a huge benefit to let Seismic Asphalt adjust the vibration frequency automatically. The result is better economy and quality.
