The primary application for the CS142N is the compaction of asphalt in limited course thicknesses, i.e., about 1 to 2 inches, depending on stiffness of the asphalt compound and the prevailing weather conditions. The large width, approximately seven feet, ensures a relatively high surface capacity. This machine is suitable for medium size and large size applications. In areas where vibration in the ground should be avoided, i.e., close to buildings and on bridges, it is an ideal machine. The CS142N can also be used for the compaction of coarse-grained soil that does not have a content of fine material that is too high. For efficient compaction the maximum size of rock should not exceed 1/3, preferably 1/5, of the course thickness to minimize bridging.
